So, what do you get the hamster who appears to have everything? If you are stuck for ideas on what to buy your hamster this festive holiday, then take a look at our list of Christmas hamster gifts below.

8 Christmas Gifts for your hamster

It’s hard enough coming up with gift ideas for family, friends and loved ones, let alone adding your hamster to the list of important pets and people you have to buy for this festive season. So, to make life simpler for all, we have done the hard work for you. Here are our recommendations for small pet presents.

Having already been conned into a Christmas Tails chocolate treat advent calendar for our hamster, I was determined to live by my mantra – “something they want, something they need, something to wear, something to read, something to eat and something to drink, something to make their little brains think”! So, here it, a practical yet fun, hamster Christmas gift guide.

1. Kaytee Critter Cruiser – Something your hamster wants

This is definitely something your hamster will want – they just don’t realise it yet. After all, some hamsters were just born to be cool and whilst an exercise ball allows them the freedom to roam around your house, the Kaytee Critter Cruiser allows them to do it style.

This pet powered car works by your hamster spinning the wheel to take to the floor as they zoom around in their multi-colored vehicle. Suitable for all types of hamster, the wheel can be adjusted so that your hamster either remains stationary or spins to allow them to set off on a mini-adventure.

2. Silent Runner Exercise Wheel – Something your hamster needs

A hamster wheel is a must for any cage as it allows your hamster the opportunity to exercise even though they don’t have a lot of room. Quite often the wheel you originally bought them as babies is no longer suitable for a full-grown fluff ball. Therefore, if you are looking to upgrade your hamster wheel, then we recommend choosing the Silent Runner.

This wheel has a simple and effective design and is made with a combination of metal and non-toxic plastic. It features a non-slip textured running track and has no center axle which helps to reduce the risk of spinal injury. Instead, the wheel is semi-enclosed with bean-shaped openings for safety and containment. It is incredibly quiet, plus it can be used as a free-standing wheel or mounted directly to the cage.

3. Hollypet warm reindeer hamster bed – Something your hamster can wear

Ok we may be cheating a little bit with the “something to wear”, but your hamster will look super cute when they climb inside this small, fluffy hamster bed. Practical for the festive season, this reindeer design hamster nest is so snuggly that as the temperatures drop, it easily keeps the chill away.

Simple to wash, this hamster bed comes with a removable zipper cushion pad to stop stains or odors from seeping in.

4. Homemade for Hamsters Book – Something that you and your hamster can read

If your kids are anything like mine, they can’t just place a bog standard loo roll in Oscar’s cage, they have to pimp it up with felt tips pens and stuck on lolly sticks. This great hamster book provides children and adults alike with lots of creative ideas for making homemade hamster tunnels, towers, mazes, dens, swings, ladders and more.

The great thing about this book is that it uses everyday items that can be found around the home and puts them to good use. Keeping kids enthralled for hours whilst making and designing various cage accessories, their crafts can be proudly displayed within your hamsters home. It’s a win, win for everyone.

5. Vitacraft Hamster Treats – Something for your hamster to eat

From snack sticks to muffins and flavoured yoghurt drops, our hamster Oscar can’t get enough of these tasty Vitacraft treats. Whether we hide them in his sawdust or hang them from the lid, these delicious and nutritious snacks are perfect for nibbling on in between his usual bowls of food. With so many to choose from, we will certainly be stocking up on these hamster treats for Oscar this Christmas.

6. Kordon Oasis Water Bottle – Something for your hamster to drink from

As a hamster owner you will already have a water bottle, but if your hamster is anything like Oscar it is unlikely to still be the first one you ever bought. Oscar has a habit of chewing through water bottles and it was only recently that I discovered the Kordon Oasis. Not only does it look stylish but it functional too.

The rounded top helps to prevent hamsters from being able to chew through it and the styrene material makes it difficult to break or crack. It can hold up to 4-ounces of water and can be placed at any height.

7. TangC Wooden Hamster Gym and Hkim Hamster Maze – Something to make your hamster think

The TangC wooden boredom breaker is great for keeping your hamster entertained when you are tucked up in bed as there are plenty of holes to climb through and ledges to clamber on. This wooden gym is not only fun but safe too as it is made from wood and water-based, non-toxic paint. So even if your hamster prefers to chew it than climb on it, they won’t come to any harm.

The Hkim wooden hamster maze is only suitable for dwarf hamsters as Syrians will be too big to fit the through the holes. It does, however, provide hours of fun for your little as they are encouraged to find their way through the twisty tunnels.

8. XPET Small Animal Stocking – Something to suit every hamster

If you don’t have the time or money to create your own hamster stocking, then why not buy one? This great pre-filled stocking is the perfect hamster present as it stuffed full of fun yet festive little toys that your hamster will enjoy chewing and playing with.

Conclusion

In the words of Mariah Carey, “all your hamster really wants for Christmas is you” and some time spent out of their cage, enjoying cuddles and running around. But if you do want to spoil them with some treats and toys then we hope this list will give you some festive inspiration for what to get your hamster for Christmas.
